Financial Instrument Valuation

Corporate capital structures are continually evolving to suit the changing funding and risk management requirements of New Zealand businesses.

We have considerable experience in pricing a wide range of financial instruments, from standard fixed interest and equity securities, to derivative instruments based on underlying equity prices, interest rates, exchange rates and commodity prices. This includes the valuation of employee share ownership plans and executive share option schemes.

Northington Partners also works closely with its affiliated software solutions provider, Resolution, to provide derivative pricing services.

Resolution has developed a suite of software products that enables clients to quickly, accurately and robustly price a full range of financial instruments. Most importantly, Resolution offers a consulting service that enables provision of specific advice to clients on issues such as IAS39 compliance, pricing methodology and complex or non- standard instrument pricing.

Resolution has recently launched an online pricing service that is capable of providing real-time valuation updates for financial instrument portfolios. The mark-to-market service combines Resolution’s financial instrument pricing libraries with constantly updated market data to provide market values for a wide range of instruments. The revaluation engine can be accessed via the web from any workstation. A free trial is available through the website at www.m2monline.co.nz
